In the
autumn of 1962, 31 year-old Ohio University instructor, Gene Isaac Stees, hit his estranged and pregnant wife over the head with a crowbar, then stuck a plastic bag over her head. The body was then placed into a steel drum and dumped into Dow Lake at Strouds Run. The ghost of Mrs. Stees has been seen walking the water's edge, wringing her hands in grief. Gene Isaac Stees escaped from prison in 1972 and he has never been apprehended.
